Hey Everyone… It’s been a while.

Jen and I planned a super cool birthday for our little man. Thomas has always loved Dinosaurs, animals and trucks. Anything bigger than Mom and Dad is cool. For his 5th birthday this year, we rented a stretched hummer and picked up all his friends and took them for a little tour of Doha.  I will get the video uploaded and post it separately. Take a look:

My sister sent me this… Not being one to forward emails, I came up with another way of sharing what gave e a little chuckle.

No, none of them came from my report cards.

These are actual comments made on students’ report cards by teachers in the New York City public school system. All teachers were reprimanded (but, boy, are these funny!)

1. Since my last report, your child has reached rock bottom and has started to dig.

2. I would not allow this student to breed.

3. Your child has delusions of adequacy.

4. Your son is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot.

5. Your son sets low personal standards and then consistently fails to achieve them.

6. The student has a ‘full six-pack’ but lacks the plastic thing to hold it all together.

7. This child has been working with glue too much.

8. When your daughter’s IQ reaches 50, she should sell.

9. The gates are down, the lights are flashing, but the train isn’t coming.

10. If this student were any more stupid, he’d have to be watered twice a week.

11. It’s impossible to believe the sperm that created this child beat out 1,000,000 others.

12. The wheel is turning but the hamster is definitely dead.

Not too much new here, Thomas’ surgery went well, We got him some lego toys to build while waiting, both because he was having surgery and to distract him from the fact that it had been 15 hours since his last meal or drink…

Thomas was in the OR for about 20 minutes before the doctor came out and told us all went well. He did have a ton of buildup behind the tube, so the dr opted to leave the ear hole open rather than stitch it closed to allow some air in there… get the infection all cleared up. Only problem with that is no swimming for 3-4 weeks (crap)

The weather here is beautiful. 22 in the morning, 34 in the afternoons. it is a great time to be in the middle east. People are starting to un-hermit them selves and this weekend we are actually going over to a friends place for thanksgiving dinner (again).

The Janzens, the Schellenbergs and another family are all getting together to celebrate together. anyways.. hope everyone back home is having a good work week…

A Bit of a rant here. One of the status symbols of being in Doha is having the best phone out there… first it was the I phone, then over to blackberry, back to I phone… I am currently using the Nokia E-71. There is a lot of technology floating around. I had a sort of epiphany yesterday while talking to a fellow geek, everything is compared to the I phone. Apple has set the standard to which all others(currently) are compared. I see it in the technology articles, I see i in the consumer magazines. Even if the newest models have “better touch screens” than the I phone, Apple is still getting market push from creating such a sexy (Yah, I said it) piece of equipment. Looks like everyone else is starting with a platform and creating services to work on it. Apple started with a service, and said, what do we want this here device to do. fan-boy? Yah, maybe. Go buy one and you be the judge.

Other than that, we went to Rick’s country kitchen for a taste of greasy spoon, and had supper at a friends place… Order in pizza… Yummy, quick and great for clean-up….
